Hi everyone so its that time of the year again to have  all kinds of great smells in your kitchen from pies to cake to turkey ! I love baking for this time of the year! I'm usually cooking the hole week of Thanksgiving to prep for the big day (yes I know it sounds like a lot of work but it really isn't)!Anyway I wanted to share some little tips and tricks that you can use to lesson your time in the kitchen for Thanksgiving and be able to spend more time with your family !

Tips and Tricks
*Start your prep work 2-3 days before Thanksgiving depending on how many people you need to serve.
*If you have pies that need to be made and you are short on time by pre  made pie crust(it may not be your homemade recipe but I'm sure everyone will still love it)
*If you are making dressing(stuffing) make the corn bread a day or 2 before and store in in container or wrap .
*It you make mac&cheese cook half way 1 day before then cool and put in fridge till you are ready to finish.
*If you are making sweet potato or pumpkin pies you can roast and puree and store in container a day before you need a day before.
*If you are cooking a turkey and or ham put in the oven the night before and let cook on low till yo get up in the morning and then turn up when you get up so it will cook till dinner time !

I hope that these tips and tricks help and save you some time in the kitchen and that you are able to spend more time with your family this Holiday season ! Please comment and fallow me and come and check me out on Facebook,Instagram and Pinterest !

And for my first trick...

Hello everyone !  Welcome to my blog for Jackie's Specialty Cakes and Desserts ! My name is Jackie I am the owner and operator of this in home baking business ! I have decided to start this blog to share with other bakers and fans my tips and tricks that I have learned over the years baking . I am a self  taught baker so some things that I do may not be what professional bakers do but its what works for me and that's all that matters. So with that said my first trick that I have is about buttermilk .... And I'm sure your wondering why would she want to talk about buttermilk for her first trick?!Well this is a ingredient  I always find myself running out of or forgetting to buy when I stock up on supplies . So  I found myself  looking for substations online and I did my research and the best one that I have found is one cup of milk with one tablespoon of white vinegar and let is sit for 5-10 minutes and you have sour milk / buttermilk ! Now some of you  I'm sure you are thinking that's nasty cant it make you sick ?! The answer is NO it can't make you sick but I wouldn't drink it if I were you it doesn't taste very good chunky ; )!  So now I want to know how many of you use this trick? Does it work for you and is there anything that you do differently with this trick ? I hope you all have enjoyed my first blog post ! Please come and check me out on Facebook at www.Facebook.com/jackiesspecialtycakesanddesserts and my website at www.jackiesspecialtycakesanddesserts.com and I'm now on Pinterest at Pinterest.com/jackangelica24
